The sentience discussion has become quite intriguing. Chime in, and if you haven't seen the story of Tara and Bella, it's a must. There's one of a handful of 15-30 second commercials first, and don't ask me how they change each time you watch. I also can't figure out how to get rid of them. It's worth the wait.
Though the story is adorable, it is a bit silly how surprised we humans tend to get when we see two species together that we wouldn't necessarily put together. Why shouldn't they get along? Just because they're different?

I'm sure this film is faked. Mary, have you not heard that nonhuman animals are merely a bunch of unconscious instincts?

It's nice to see in the last few decades that most people have an understanding that cat pets and dog pets can co-exist quite nicely. Gone are the days and the misconception in the phrase "fighting like cats and dogs". I'm sure others like me, have had to correct that notion a hundred times. I think there's much more harmony in nature than what some want to be known...

Well what do you know!
Animals otherr than ourselves actually have true emotions.
This is a truly heartwarming story & everyone in the world should be required to watch it.....this planet would be a much better place if we acted like like animals.

There is an update to this story. When the original story aired, Disney wanted to do a feature length live action movie. The keepers of the sanctuary said, "no." They did not "want [Tara and Bella] to be in those environments where they're dominated and trained to perform for people." Awesome.
