Hi Mary! Glad that I wasn't the only vegan watching Wipeout and cheering. You're right, it was very very very unusual for primetime TV. (I wrote a blog post on the Killer Animal Lover too, and I'm relieved to see that your memory of the interview more or less matches mine.)

Hadn't heard about the lion meat issue, though. The comments on that site are mostly ridiculous, but I've noticed that there are some good ones.

Hi Becci,
I DVRd it and sat there rewinding and pausing to get it down accurately. Great recall on you! I missed the part about puppies and kittens, and Killer Animal Lover--I have too little patience for the show. http://blog.liberationbc.org/2010/06/wipeout/

I did some research on Wagner, thinking maybe she's a vegan. She's actually known for her gun collection. Go figure.

PLEASE...everyone, I want more info. on that interview with the animal eater...was it John Anderson or John Henson who
did the interview? We need to send him a big thank you for speaking the truth. I want to send a copy of that interview
to Dawnwatch & also to several AR groups.
Becci...where is your blog? I'd like to read it.
Mary...isn't it interesting that you chose to watch THAT particular show...a show I'm guessing you probably wouldn't
usually watch....but "something" led you to watch it....kind
of spooky...but in a very good way.

Hi Gingerlks,
It was Jill Wagner. The episode should be on hulu and abc.com shortly. Becci's post is at http://blog.liberationbc.org/2010/06/wipeout/
She did a much better job as she watched more of it than I did and caught more interesting comments.

Loved this post, Mary.
"If you kill animals or pay someone to do so for you, you support animal cruelty." So obvious, yes? Why is it so hard for people to make this connection?

The number of lions in the wild is indeed affected by farming in Illinois. Czimer's Game and Seafood supplied the meat and they got the meat as surplus from someone who sells animal skins. As a buyer/seller/consumer they are a link in a lethal chain that contributes to the demise of the species.
And wasn't that your point in the Wipeout portion of your article?

Hi Christine,
The article I refer to makes no mention of a connection to Czimer's; it mentions Fallow as the supplier. And the Wipeout portion simply refers to the fact that killing is cruelty, no matter whom you are killing. So to claim to want to abolish animal cruelty and not be a vegan (or even a vegetarian, as that was the question asked), is hypocritical, as Jill Wagner and the other commentators rightly point out. I hope that helps clarify my position.
